Cash on Delivery in Nepal: How to Shop Online Safely
On this page

Cash on delivery is still the most trusted way to shop online in Nepal. Here is how it works, why it protects you, and seven simple habits for shopping online safely.

In online shopping, the moment that matters most is when a rider hands a bag to a customer. That moment is where trust is won or lost. For most people in Nepal, it is also when they pay, because cash on delivery (COD) is still how the majority of online orders are settled.

How cash on delivery works

  1. You place your order on the website or app. No card or wallet is needed.
  2. Checkout shows you the full amount, including the delivery charge, before you confirm.
  3. Your order is packed and handed to a delivery partner.
  4. When it arrives, you check it and pay the rider in cash.

At Vhandar, cash on delivery is how every order is paid at the moment. You never pay for something you haven't seen.

  • No risk of paying for an order that never comes. If it doesn't arrive, you have lost nothing.
  • No card needed. Many people still don't use cards for online shopping.
  • You can check before you pay. Count the items, look at the expiry dates, then hand over the money.

Seven habits for safe online shopping in Nepal

1. Buy from shops with a real address and registration

A legitimate business shows its registered company name, PAN or VAT number and a physical address. Ours are at the bottom of every page: Vhandar Merchandise Pvt. Ltd., Koteshwor, Kathmandu, PAN/VAT 621233397. If a Facebook page selling "imported" goods at half price has none of this, be careful.

2. Read the return policy before you order

Know what you can return, and how quickly you need to report a problem. Our return policy gives you 2 days for unused items and asks you to report wrong, damaged or missing items within 24 hours.

3. Check the order at the door

It takes two minutes. Check the number of items, any seals, and expiry dates on food. It is much easier to fix a problem while the rider is still there.

4. Keep small change ready

This is less about safety and more about kindness. Riders carry limited change, and having the right amount ready gets everyone moving faster.

5. Never share an OTP with someone who calls you

We send one-time codes by SMS when you sign up or reset your password. No one from Vhandar will ever ask you to read that code out over the phone. Anyone who does is trying to get into your account.

6. Track your order in the app, not on someone else's link

Your order status, from Pending to Delivered, is in My Orders. You can also look up a parcel on our order tracking page. Be wary of tracking links sent from unknown numbers.

7. Get a bill

Your order comes with a bill. Keep it until you have used the items; it makes any return or complaint straightforward.

What if something goes wrong?

Message us on WhatsApp at 9851357358 or use Help & Support, with your order number and a photo if possible. For wrong, damaged or missing items, we replace the item first where we can, and otherwise refund it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pay online instead of cash?

Right now Vhandar orders are paid in cash on delivery. We will announce it on this blog when other payment options are available.

Can I refuse an order at the door?

If an item is wrong or damaged, tell the rider and contact support. For an order that was simply no longer needed, it is better to cancel from My Orders while it is still Pending.
