BS and AD in short
Bikram Sambat runs about 56 years and 8 months ahead of the English calendar. To get the BS year, add 57 to the AD year from 1 Baisakh (mid-April) to 31 December, and 56 from 1 January to Chaitra end. The converter does this exactly, day by day, so you don't have to.
