How to Order Liquor Online in Nepal: Rules and Delivery

Yes, you can order liquor online in Nepal and have it delivered in Kathmandu. Here is what you need to know about the age limit, ID checks, delivery times and what you can and can't buy.
"Do you really deliver beer?" is still one of the most common questions our support team gets. The short answer is yes. The longer answer comes with a few rules, and they exist for good reasons, so it is worth knowing them before you order.
Who can buy liquor online
Liquor and tobacco are sold only to customers who are 18 years or older. When you order from our Liquors & Smoke category, our delivery partner may ask to see an ID at the door, such as your citizenship card, driving licence or passport. If the person receiving the order can't show that they are over 18, the drinks go back with the rider.
Please don't order alcohol for anyone underage, and don't ask our riders to leave it with a child at home. They have been told to say no, and they will.
What you can order
Most of what you would find at a good wine shop in Kathmandu:
- Beer: local favourites in bottles and cans, plus imported options
- Whisky: Nepali brands for everyday drinking and imported Scotch for occasions
- Wine: red, white and the sweeter wines many people prefer
- Vodka, rum, tequila and liqueurs
Don't forget the things that go with them: soda and mixers, ice and water, and snacks. They can all go in the same order.
How fast liquor delivery is
Liquor is delivered the same way as everything else on Vhandar:
- Express delivery in about 45 minutes if you are within roughly 3 km of our store and the store is open.
- Standard delivery in a time window you choose at checkout.
- Store pickup at our Koteshwor store, usually ready in about 20 minutes.
We deliver during store hours, between 8 AM and 8 PM. That means late-night orders are not possible yet, but you can place an order at any time and schedule it for the next available window. If you are planning a party, order in the afternoon rather than at 7:45 PM.
Things that can delay or stop a liquor order
Dry days
On some days, such as election periods or days declared by the local administration, the sale of alcohol is restricted. On those days we can't deliver liquor, even if the rest of your order goes out as normal.
No one over 18 at the address
If you are ordering for a family member, make sure an adult will be there to receive it.
Out-of-stock brands
Popular imported brands sometimes sell out before festivals. Use the Notify me button on a product page and we will tell you when it is back.
Paying for liquor orders
Like all orders, liquor is paid in cash on delivery. The delivery charge is shown at checkout before you confirm.
A word on drinking responsibly
We sell alcohol, so we will say this plainly: don't drink and drive, and don't let your guests drive home after a party. Kathmandu has ride-hailing apps and taxis, and a spare mattress is cheaper than an accident. Keep water and food on the table, and know when to stop.

Can I return a bottle of liquor?
Opened food and beverages can't be returned. If a bottle arrives broken, leaking or wrong, tell us within 24 hours and we will replace it. See the return policy.
